Dear Member,
Our Society in association with Shivji Premji Gorasia has decided to print a booklet detailing our (as in Kanbis) relatively recent history. Where we came to Kutch from, and then migrated to East Africa, and then to UK, America and other countries in the world. In the present time, there is a great deal of information about us which we are simply loosing as we loose our elders. We have already lost a great deal of valuable information, and if we do not collect and document the information that is available now, this information will also disappear with our elders. It is with this concern, that we are devoting our energies in putting together a booklet detailing any information we can gather. We have managed to collect information on how various gaams within our 24 gaams came to be. We would have liked to have a piece on each of the Kanbi gaams, but we had very limited response, even with a great deal of chasing up. Unfortunately it turned out to be the case of some is better than none, and be content with what you have rather than chasing the ideals.
We have collected all the information we can, and it is currently with the printers. The book will be ready in the next few months. Once this booklet (in Gujarati) is produced, it is our intention to get it translated into english to extend its usefulness.
Several months of hard work has gone into collecting and sorting the information, and not all the people who put in the effort were CSCS Committee members. These individuals are as follows, since the effort still goes on:-
Ravji V Bhudia, Ashok Hirani, Laxman D Hirani, Savita R Bhudia, Shivji L Siyani, Ramnik Bhudia, Kalyan G Pindoria, Lalji S Gorasia
We sincerely thank those who have given us financial and moral support for this project. Mainly Raghunath Mandir, Madhapar for their generous donation, Devjibhai Meghani of super toughned glass ltd, for the free use of their premises for our Dandia raas evening, all of you who came to Dandia Raas night organised by CSCS music group to raise funds for this project. Not to mention Shivji Premji Gorasia, who was originally going to produce the booklet on a smaller scale on his own at his expense. he is still putting forward a substantial printing cost of the booklet.
THANK YOU.
