Mata Na Madh

On the Western side of Kutchh and on the way to Narayan Sarovar in Lakhpat Taluka lies a temple of Goddess Ashapura (satisfaction), which has its own importance in the hearts of Hindu's. The temple of Mother Godess Ashapura is considered to be 1200 years old. Religious processions take place every year during Navratri. People from all over Gujarat come here and join in the festivities during Navratri. More than half of the devotees make the journey on foot. There are some devotees who make the journey on bicycles from as far as Mumbai. The festival is during Navratri and the temple is situated approximately 95km from Bhuj.

Above is a very brief information on a famous place within Kutchh where our Society makes regular donations, and is in contact with. Unfortunately above is all the information I have been able to find. I am sure that even within our membership, people have more information on this popular religious place in Kutchh.

Navratri is a Hindu festival of great importance, and as far as our Society is concerned its our major function, as such Mata na Madh has a special significance for our Society. As far back as I remember our Society has been in regular contact with, and made donations to Mata Na Madh every year. On account that Navratri is our major festival just as it is Mata Na madh's.

I would like to invite any of our members, and non-members who visit this section of our site, to write to us with any information they have on this place of special significance in Kutchh.
